Garrison Confections, Hope St., Providence

So what's the 411 on this place, which has just been anointed by Money magazine as one of the best in America?

It appears to be right in the heart of the Hope St. shopping district. The next time we're in Providence it's going to be hard to do a Hope St. stroll and not check this place out.

  1. If you don't want to eat really fantastic chocolate, you should definitely avoid it. But if you do want to - and unless dietary or moral restrictions prevent it, I can't imagine why you would choose not to - don't miss Garrison. It's fantastic. Makes great gifts. I haven't had all great chocolate everywhere but I've had my share of the good stuff and count Garrison in among the very very very good stuff. Enjoy - or avoid, if that's what you'd prefer!

I'm not a chocolated "expert" by any means, but even I can taste the difference between what Garrison's does and "other" chocolates... Great stuff. It's a staple of gift giving for me.

Their chocolates are beautiful too, and the staff there is great. It's a bit tough to find at first blush, though, as its literally built into the side of the CVS building on Hope. I wish they had a higher profile locale...

A more traditional, less "chocolate as art" candy store can be found in Wayland Square that's quite good as well.
