Good lunch spot half way between Boston and New Haven, CT
Need a good weekday lunch spot for two. Ideally, the locale would have other activities in addition to eating (i.e. antiquing, shopping, etc.) Any ideas for something on 84 or 95?

Stonington/Mystic area has some good antiquing, boutique shops. I would recommend Noah's for lunch in Stonington Borough -a charming little town - open every day but Monday. Anthony J's in Mystic is also good. Off 95.

I second the idea of Stonington, which has rapidly become one of my favorite little places in New England, and Noah's is a good quick stop for lunch. While there, swing by the Stonington Vineyards for wine tasting. It's no more than 3-5 minutes drive off of highway 95...
While not halfway (more like a 1/3rd of the way there), there's also this little place called Providence as well :-). Tons of options right off of 95. Search all of the Providence posts for ideas.

Thanks... I think we are going to check out Stonington. Providence was a bit to far for the other party to travel, but I have heard it has great restaurants!

If you travel south on 395 instead of 84, you can stop at the Vanilla Bean in Pomfret, CT. It's not right by the exit, but then it sounds like you might not mind a little detour. I don't know a lot about antiquing, but Putnam, which you will go through to get to Pomfret, has some places. (I heard that the Vanilla Bean was going to open a second restaurant, I think in Pomfret. I don't know any more about it.) I was unable to connect to their web site, http://www.thevanillabeancafe.com/, this morning. The original Vanilla Bean is at the intersection of Rts.44, 169 and 197.
