Chicago Style Hot Dog in CT?
I've been dying for a Chicago style hot dog lately. I'm in New Haven, but I grew up in Detroit so I've been eating them for a long time (since before Danny Meyer made them hip again). Is there anywhere in or around New Haven? In fact, I'd be willing to go pretty far for one -- short of New York, that is.

I went today. It was really good. Definitely not a traditional chicago style, but quite good. Thanks for the recommendation.

They call it a Spike's dog but it has a lot of the same stuff as a Chicago dog. I was surprised not to see an actual Chicago on this long list.

What is a Chicago style hot dog?

You can see a picture of one on www.hollyeats.com.
Basically it's a dog served on poppyseed bun, with neon green relish (or sometimes a dill pickle speer), mustard, onions and they usually have a whole very small pepper.
There used to be a place in Seabrook, NH that had them, but he went out of business. You can get a so-so version at O'Hare during a layover;)

Actually don't entirely agree with that description. Having grown up with a Fluky's walking distance, I agree with Vienna's posted description (doesn't have to be Vienna but being beef is key):
A Chicago Style Hot Dog is a steamed Vienna® Beef hot dog topped with yellow mustard, bright green relish, onions, tomato wedges, pickle spear or slice, sport peppers and a dash of celery salt served in a steamed poppyseed bun

Rosco's menu doesn't have a listing for anything like a Chicago Dog...
I LOVE Rosco's but why recommend it for a Chicago dog when they don't have one?
