Restaurant Supply Store/Bakery Supply Store
I am wondering if anyone knows where the nearest restaurant supply store or baking supply store is to Brighton. I'm always hearing "go to your local restaurant supply store", but I don't know where that is. I think it would be tons of fun to take a look around in one.

eastern bakers supply
145 north washington st
boston
617 742 0228
an awesome store easily accessible from haymarket or north station. tons of restaurant-quality items. can be intimidating . . .
gadgets
763 centre st
jamaica plain
617 524 6800
a fun store with tons of gadgets. often their prices are better than those at kitchen arts (newbury street, at the copley station). between the green street and forest hills stations. better for gadgets (egg piercer, baby food grinder, cookie cutters, chocolate dipping forks, etc.) -- not sure about prices on their bakeware (but they have a nice selection). best of all, it's within walking distance to jp licks . . . and perdix . . .

If you go to Eastern Baker's you might as well go to Harbour which is two doors up on North Washington St.

I find that Eastern on the edge of the North End has really good prices. What they don't tell you, is that the prices as marked are subject to something like a 20% discount automatically (why, who knows?)
Superior in Watertown is well organized, but the prices are a bit high.

There is also an Asian restaurant supply store in Chinatown with woks, rice cookers, as well as standard non-Asian cooking items. Unfortunatly I don't remember the address, but I think (from looking at a map) that it is on Beach St, on one of the corners.

I saw on chronicle about a year ago a place in Newton that supposedly had some great deals. I forgot the name of it. If anyone out there knows of what I speak please help me out

China Fair, Needham St.

China Fair has a great selection of stuff at very good prices...I found a giant, round pizza pan there, my stove-top espresso maker, lots of generic glasses, lots of misc. cute stuff. It's fun to excavate in there...
My other favorite is the rest. supply place in Chinatown at the corner of Harrison and Beach Sts. The source for all the tacky Tiki ceramic glasses you could dream of, and Benriner mandolins for $18...Also, ANY size wok imaginable.
For western style stuff, tho, like le creuset, calphalon and chantal, it's always TJMaxx, chez Marshall and Homegoods.

Restaurant Depot in Chelsea has a great selection of stuff. You need a membership though. I don't know what qualifies one to be a member.
BMS Paper Supply in JP is actually a restaurant supply store on Washington St. near Doyle's. That's where I load up on bakery boxes, cardboard cake rounds, all sorts of take-out containers, aluminun trays and roasting pans.

The Building 19 stores have a huge selection of foil pans, from tiny take out size, great for holiday cookie/candy gifts, up to the roasting pan sizes, and they are really cheap. In the Haverhill store I also saw a big assortment of Chicago Metallic baking pans -cookie sheets, round and square cake pans, every size of muffin pans, specialty pans like sticky bun, shortcake, etc. I think they are all $7.99 or less, retail all around $20. The one in Somerville generally gets less of a selection, but may have some as well.

Eastern Bakers on north washington in the fleet center neighborhood. I think it's the best. There's also the food service equipment supply store on the corner of harrison and beach in china town.
