Serve this stuffing as part of your Thanksgiving meal to soak up all the delicious gravy from your roast turkey. For this recipe, we chill our Moist Cornbread to dry it out a little—that makes it easier to cut, and helps the bread cubes keep their shape during the mixing with the other ingredients. Toss it with fennel-scented sautéed Italian sausage, tart apples, chicken broth, and fresh sage, pack it into a buttered baking dish and pop it into the oven until golden brown.
Make-ahead note: This stuffing can be completely made ahead. Cool and refrigerate until ready to serve. Rewarm uncovered in a 350°F oven for about 30 to 40 minutes.
