Almond Butter Hot Chocolate
Once you’ve committed to drinking a rich hot chocolate, you might as well go all the way and add some almond butter. This version is reminiscent of a melted peanut butter cup (except with almond flavor)—you won’t be needing dessert afterward.
What to buy: For this recipe, use high-end chocolate, such as El Rey 41 percent milk chocolate.
Almond butter can be found in health food stores and high-end groceries. If you can’t find it, substitute good-quality, natural peanut butter.
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 5 ounces good-quality milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
1Combine the milk and cream in a small saucepan over medium heat and cook until simmering, about 4 minutes.
2Add the chocolate and whisk until completely melted, about 2 minutes. Add the almond butter and whisk until incorporated. Serve immediately.
