I had dinner the other night at the Zoar Tavern & Inn in Zoar, OH. While the food wasn't too bad, the service was terrible.
A group of us were there in their private room for dinner. There was 1 menu per table of 6 so we had to request extra menus with 2 servers working the room of 5 tables. We found out later that 1 of the servers was brand new.
We order our food AND order a bottle of red wine and a bottle of white wine for each table. One server brings out the wine but there are no wine glasses on the table so she has to get the wine glasses. She does this for 2 tables then we don't see ANY servers for 30 - 45 minutes. When the server comes out to give us our salads, we ask about the wine and are told that they're out of the red wine we ordered.
Then, we order a different red wine for the other tables which eventually comes out. However to get the wine for the remaining tables, they had to stop serving the salads. Again, no wine glasses on the tables. It takes us another 5 - 10 minutes to get wine glasses. At this point, they finish serving the salads. 10 minutes later our entrees come out. 15 minutes later, we are asked if we would like dessert or coffee.
At the beginning of the meal, we couldn't get them to wait on us. Towards the end we felt very rushed. When the bad service was brought to the attention of the owner, he said, "What do you want me to do about it?"
The food wasn't bad but ignoring us then rushing the food out to us put a damper on what should have been a very enjoyable meal.
