Yucatan Tacos (longish)

New Mexican place (yes, mexican) on Centre St. in West roxbury, right next to Kane's cleaners on the corner of Weld. THeir motto "Mexican food prepared by REAL Mexicans".

Had the pork taco. Soft corn tortilla and delicious seasoned pork (reddish/brown...adobe sauce?). Pickled diced red onions were a nice touch. Also tried a chicken tamale (green) which was tasty, but served with this blandish red salsa over the top. Split a salbutes with the hubby. I wasn't familiar with this one...thicker soft corn tortilla fried on a griddle (a bit greasy) with cheese, beans, pico de gallo. We got some habanero salsa on the side that had a great kick, but otherwise a bit bland.

Seems servicable and fresh, although I have to admit I don't know alot about "authentic" Mexican fare. Definitely not as good as Lupita in Somerville (salvadoran?). The folks running it are really nice and I'd like to see this place succeed (we need it around these parts!). Menu promised to evolve.

Anyone else checked it out? I'd like to here any feedback.......
