Had two lovely days in Yosemite and ate only at the Ahwanhee Hotel where we stayed.
Breakfast buffet was included in the half-price special for this time of the year - excellent choices, flavors and even temperature, fresh orange juice and Peet's Coffee included in buffet. Had lox and bagels with nice house pastries one morning and eggs benedict, hash browns, bacon and cheese danish the next -all very good
Two dinners in Hotel Main Dining Room: tasty if not refined dining, but nice variety and could make this a large or small meal depending upon selections - not cheap but at least is credible dining in this lovely setting with friendly service. Great breads, had the Moroccan Lamb Shanks one night and the Steelhead Trout the next. DH had the Beef Wellington special one night and the menu Duck pasta the next - both pronounced very good. Dress code requested, but obviously not honored. But go ahead and dress up because this is one lovely setting. We did.
One lunch in the more casual Ahwanhee Grill which as patio seating with that magnificent garden view by the pool: Ahwahnee Chili Con Carne - excellent, robust, full of meat and topped with cheese and pickled peppers, along with a very nice cheese bread. Very satisfying for around $10
4pm Tea for Hotel Guests only in the Great Room: brewed orange pekoe and various specialty bagged teas with an array of home baked ice-box cookie slices. Very nice break in the day.
Mezzanine complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate for hotel guests only in the morning.
Recommended to those not staying at the Ahwanhee Hotel: breakfast buffet in the main dining room, or Grill for lunch are the best bets for price, value and daytime views.
