Let me start by publicly stating that I am a Food Snob. That's what happens when you go to so many restaurants, you begin to develop a finicky-snobish tongue that will only accept the very best. In the are of Cheesecake, I have found what I believe to be the BEST NEW YORK STYLE CHEESECAKE IN LOS ANGELES.
The winner is: THE CHEESECAKE AT "MARMALADE CAFE" on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks.
The Size: I give it an 8, not impressive but enough for 2 to share.
The "Top": PERFECT 10! It has an absolute perfect dark beige, firm baked, top. Almost like a cake. As if baked a little too long. The best I've ever had thus far.
The Filling: Firm, Creamy, Sweet but not too sweet, well-balanced, a perfect 10.
The Crust: It has one of those graham cookie bottoms, very dense and crumbly. Not too sweet. I give it an 8.
In my opinion, and my Food Snob tongue will agree, the Cheesecake at Marmalade Cafe is better than Cheesecake Factory (oh please!) or Marie Calendars (pretty decent).
Please let me know your thoughts and prove me wrong otherwise!
