Yamo now Burmese

Sob! I just spent an hour writing this report on Yamo and accidentally closed the window! With that I am just going to give the Reader's Digest version as it is late and I'm tired. Lovely Burmese siblings took over what used to be Yamo Thai 4 months ago. It's a dive with one long counter and 9 seats. All the entrees are $5.25 as are the salads (tea leaf, mango, and chicken) and noodle soups (chicken and fish chowder). Apps $3.50. My yummy whole coconut drink was $2.50. Some seriously yummy food for the price. They talked about closing the place to remodel in the near future which usually means that prices will go up. Get there fast before they do!

We had tea leaf salad (rocks!), Burmese beef curry, Yamo house noodles w/ lots of pork, black bean fish, the coconut, and tea. All for under $19 after tax! We liked everything (esp. the salad); I felt the curry and noodles were a wee bit oily, my Singaporean friend who has eaten her way through Asia really liked them. She also added that if I asked them to add less of the garlic oil when wokking, they would. If I have any energy tomorrow, I'll elaborate.

This family is so friendly and warm that they deserve more explanation tomorrow...

In short, seriously good cheap eats! Get there before they raise the prices.
