Xaviar's at Piermont

Had yet another perfect meal at Xaviar's. We started with an amuse bouche of celeriac veloute with a wonderful crab cake floating in it. First course was a generous serving of two slices of silky foie gras, accompanied by toasted raisin bread, sauternes jelly and fruit compote. For the second course, we had sweetbreads with a lobster sauce (complete with morsels of lobster), and a delicious shrimp in a buttery sauce with jerusalem artichoke flan. Third course was berkshire hog pork loin and bacon, and venison loin. For dessert, we opted for a cheese plate (excellent assortment), and a valhrona chocolate thing, which was my least favorite offering of the evening (very rich and sweet). Then...a plate of more dessert, including chocolate covered strawberries, and little pastries. A glass of sancerre with our first courses, and a bottle of zinfandel with our meat and dessert rounded out a perfect evening of flawless food, service and atmosphere. Good thing we weren't scheduled to take cholesterol tests the following morning!
