What did I do wrong at Vietman?

JesseLou | Mar 4, 2003 04:16 PM

My boyfriend and I had dinner for the first time at Vietman (on Doyers St) Sunday. We were totally in the mood for Vietmanese and couldn't wait to eat there since we've heard such good things. Well, based on our meal we wouldn't go back. The waiter kept asking us every 3 min if we were ready to order. Finally we were sick of having him bother us so we just ordered. I felt like we didn't have time to properly contemplate the menu. Did we just order wrong or is it not that good?

We had:
Shrimp summer rolls - boring iceberg lettuce/shrimp affair w/ bland dipping sauce

Green papaya salad - also bland. Needed more sour & salt.

Shrimp w/ salt & pepper - fine, but not what we were expecting.

Pork chop, shredded pork & meat pie over rice - the rice & pork chop were very tasty. The meat pie was good, I mainly got it for adventure's sake. Shredded pork was blah.
