Hi, this board was suggested to me by someone else as a great place to pose this question. My husband is trying to find out how to get a job at a restaurant (any job at this point, he's willing to work his way up). There's a long story behind this, but suffice it to say he has a true passion for cooking and I think he's gifted (he loves to experiment with new spices, blend different types of ethnic cuisines - even if it's not completely successful, it is unique!). He's the chef of our family, and is usually telling me the proper techniques for food preparation.:) Anyway, he would love to go to culinary school, but we are rather tight on cash right now. Do apprenticeships exist in any form these days? He is a hard working and has a sharp mind, and would not mind starting from the bottom and working his way up.
If anyone has any advice on what approach we should take, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
