Went to Spigolo for dinner - fairly new restaurant on the UES - it was amazing. Started with an appetizer of wild boar sausage served with a cranberry bean and fava bean salad. My date started with farro/raison/herb salad with grilled jumbo shrimp. Both starters were interesting and incredably flavorful. For entrees I had lemon pasta (the dough was made with lemon zest in it) with arugula pesto and shrimp marinated in smoked paprika , my date had trophe (i think that was the name of the pasta) with wild mushrooms - simple dish but executed very well and was delicious.
So far everything was so good that I had to go for dessert and I 'm glad i did. I don't remember what it was called - but it was little freshly made donuts served with some sort of carmel/ mocha sauce on the side -it was heavenly.
Anyway, the service was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly without being overbearing. They will probably be reviewed soon in NYT so I reccomend getting in before they get reviewed - it's already hard to get into because its so small (30 seats)
