Went to Bymark last night. Was seated quickly, but in a drafty area. Our request to move to another table was met just as quickly, which was great was I don't think either my wife or I would have enjoyed the meal otherwise.
The space itself was very cold and not all that welcoming. It's an interesting space, well decorated but seems to be missing something.
The service was definitly below standards. It took a good 10-15 minutes before someone approached the table. The first two bottles of wine that we ordered were out of stock, but instead of saying "I'm sorry we don't have this wine, perhaps you might be interested in this wine...." sort of thing, we simply got handed the wine list back.
We got one piece of bread each, and the bread was just simple french stick. The food was great, I upgraded to Foie Gras app, which was the biggest piece of foie gras I've seen in a long time and my wife really liked the tuna.
The mains were great too - I had the veal tenderloin and she had the sea bass both excellent choices. The desserts were really good too.
But I think the real kicker of the night - when we got our desserts, the server came up to us and said "Do you like coffee?"......not "would you like coffee?", not "how about a coffee?", but "do you like coffee?" Funny. Sad but funny.
Expected the service to be much better. Having to pour my own wine is something I'm cool with doing, just not something I'd expect to be doing at a place like Bymark.
Canoe was definitly better - service, atmospere were far superior while the food was on par at both places. If I need to choose, I'll choose Canoe.
