Wine Bottega and Giacomo's

Thanks to all the hounds who gave me advice earlier this week on places for clueless people to buy wine. Special thanks to C. Simon and all who seconded the rec for Wine Bottega. I went last night and was treated very well. I didn't catch names, but a very informed and pleasant young lady helped me and then a guy at the counter rang me up. He was very friendly, told me wine tastings are Friday and Saturday 5-8. I told them both about the chowhound board and they were psyched! He said he's a big fan of the New York board, but didn't realize the Boston boards were thriving. I told him to check it out. By the way, I went with a 2000 Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape. Thanks again for pointing me to this place!

Had dinner at Giacomo's. I had shrimp and scallops over linguine with Giacomo sauce, which is a red sauce with a lobster broth base and a bit of bechamel. It was great. The seafood and pasta were perfectly cooked.

Grabbed a cannoli at Mike's. Should have gone to Modern.
