Well, sort of anyway. Nothing official, just 4 of us hitting Chinois Asian Bistro for Happy Hour and then walking over to Saigon Bistro for some entrees.
Chinois Asian Bistro is a great Chinese-Asian restaurant just off the Town Green Square on Windsor River Road. Happy Hour has a large list of apps and drinks, all at $5.00. We ordered a bunch and shared. Maylaysian Chicken Satay, Fried Pork and Shrimp Dumplings, Taiwanese Beef Skewers, Roti Prata, Spring rolls, Pork Shi Mai, Coconut Prawns and a couple of large Tsaingtao. All were tasty, satay, skewers, Roti Prata and Coconut Prawns were standouts.
Over at Saigon Bistro it was busy and a server had called out putting the dining room in the weeds but stuff happens and we actually had no problem but it was clear some other tables did.
Two of us ordered Pho which was chock full of steak, tripe, well done brisket, flank, fat brisket, meatballs and noodles. Topped with white onions, scallions and cilantro. Side plate had fresh bean sprouts, basil and slices of lime and jalapeno. A large serving was quite good and excellent value at $8.95. Also ordered Lemongrass Chicken and Chicken with Vegetables which were also very good and very reasonably priced. Had some leftovers for lunch yesterday.
If you are up this way, Chinois and Saigon Bistro are solid dining choices along with a few others (Tomi Thai, Himalayan Curry House, Ume Japanese) on or just off the Town Green. Will hopefully be visiting them this week.
