sorry to get so excited about a sandwich, but ....
the tuna sandwich was the best one i've ever had. really flavorful, nicely textured tuna. olives and capers adding a briny, salty bite. thinly shaved lemon slices contributing moisture and intense tanginess. shaved fennel for crunch and a touch of sweetness. fresh dill for a light herbal note. not too much mayonnaise. nice sturdy bread to hold it all in place. the first bite tasted great, and the sandwich only grew more interesting and compelling as one bite followed another. seriously, it was sandwich perfection.
then, for dessert the ginger creamwich was incredible! i almost couldn't believe i could buy something that tasted so good for only a dollar. two perfect, thin yet soft and yielding, very gingery cookies sandwiching a filling that tasted like cream-cheese frosting (the kind that comes on carrot cake) but oh so much better. i am not a frosting person as a general matter, but i could have eaten this with a spoon. it was that good. and the cookie to filling ratio was perfect.
i'd been there before and had various other things, which i liked, but these two items were just so superlative that i felt i had to share.
