We just returned from a quick trip to Scottsdale and had a couple of great experiences. One was at the White Chocolate Grill, up off of Scottsdale Road near the 101. It was a Houston's esque style restaurant with a varied medium sized menu and friendly efficient service. The Israeli couscous side dish was a wonderful surprise. The Tomato Gin soup is a creamy delight, the grilled artichoke appetizer is smokey and salty, yum!
DH had the pepper crusted prime filet and I had the french dip prime rib sandwich. the fries were excellent too. I had a side caesar salad with a tangy rich dressing. All in all, a very good choice.
We had breakfast at the Westin Kierland Resort and found a hotel breakfast that was really worth the money. Do not miss the vinegar chestnut honey glazed Mexican papaya with kumquats, lime, apples and figs served lightly sauteed warm in a small iron skillet. WOW! The waffles were served with cream fraiche and mixed berries. Great thick and chewy bacon too. One day earlier DH had a very unique roast beef sandwich served open-faced with a horseradish dressing. The side dish was a watermelon salad with radishes, champagne vinegar and fresh basil. It was a taste treat!
We also dined at Barcelona which was a fun evening. The food was very good, well presented, but unfortunately the paella was a bit too salty and not authentic.
I love it in Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Lots of good eating and restaurants to try.
