Hi, I'm new to the board and have to let everyone know that West End Cafe in Carle Place (187 Glen Cove Rd) is a delicious and surprising find! I started with Lobster bisque, and although I was disappointed that there were no lobster chunks, the soup was tasty with a slightly spicy kick in the back of the throat. My friend had Pan-Seared Lobster (used to make my soup perhaps?) and I had Asian Five Spice Seared Tuna; both were very fresh and flavorful. For dessert, I had a creme brulee with fresh diced peaches tucked inside--warm vanilla tones flavor a slightly thick custard. I ate every spoonful and craved another one! The atmosphere is open and airy with apricot-sponged walls. The experience was very unexpected and I look forward to returning very soon.
Also, anyone ever been to Yuki's Palette (611 Old Country Road in Westbury)? I would recommend it except it really depends on whether or not Yuki is behind the counter. They have a particularly good Sushi From Maine, which is lobster with rice, wasabi, and a tiny lemon segment (rind included) that delivers a fresh punch to the taste buds. However, the last time I was there, I was disappointed that the lobster was almost yellow with a slightly fishy quality. It may be time to try a new sushi place. (Looks like Nagashima is a good one to try.) Has anyone had a similar experience there?
