after almost three great years in NY, we are moving out (to Calgary). For us, born in Barcelona, living here has been a huge eye-opener for us, we have discovered many different cuisines. The food there is very good (sometimes), but the variety over here is absolutely overwhelming (in a good sense).
So, decided to enjoy our last weeks here in Manhattan, we request your help to find places to eat that make wonderful memories. I think we will restrict it to Japanese food (where sashimi has to be in the menu, because my husband just LOVES it) and "new american" (or whatever the name is); indian would also be welcome. We would like high quality food, go to a restaurant once a week (twice max), spend aprox $100 pp (less is OK, and I wouldn't mind spending more money if we know we are going to have a good time). Good desserts are a plus (for me!).
So far, we have gone to Sugiyama and had 8-course Kaiseki (and probably go there for the omakase of one of our last diners in the city) and have a reservation for Nobu in two weeks.
I was thinking (in no particular order):
- Blue Hill
- The Harrison
- Sushi of Gari or Sushi Yasuda
Any ideas, suggestions, must haves, no-no's... are more than welcome. You are great guys, I am hooked to this list! I will keep reading it from Canada...
