wedding/events catering?

Ok, so I'm a pretty serious Chowhound. It's not just that I like good food, so much as I require it. :} Good restaraunts and good cooking are both hobbies of mine that I pretty actively pursue.

I got engaged not long ago, and I'm just beginning to plan my wedding. Since good food is an active hobby of mine and not just an idle preference, I feel pretty strongly that the food at my wedding should be Chowhound-worthy. I mean, you'd wonder about someone who liked to sew and got married in a less-than-stunning dress, or someone really into yachting who got married on a beat-up dinghy. Just the same, since food is a hobby of mine, I really want this to come out spectacular.

At the same time, I really don't want to spend an obscene ammount of money.

We're not going to choose a site that will require us to pick from their list of caterers, because we feel pretty strongly about being able to shop around. We don't have a site yet, but it will be somewhere local to the greater SF bay area.

So, what can you suggest, Chowhounds? I need dinner catering for about 100 people. Any cuisine other than Japanese is acceptable, though I have a preference for Middle Eastern or Mediterranean (even higher preference for places that can do a number of different cuisines well). Also, they will need to be able to come up with a decent vegetarian option.

Thanks for any help you can offer! My guests will thank you, too.
