Wazuri report - Short and sweet

After visiting the wonderfu Museum of African Art and in an Africa state of mind, my brother in law and I headed out to Wazuri for a very nice late afternoon lunch at Wazuri.

The place was empty so we got a prime, balcony rail side seat. We both kept to the lighter side of the fare on offer and weren't disappointed. I ordered and thoroughly endjoyed the chilled melon and cucumber soup. It came served with an equally refreshing scoop (generous too!) of melon sorbet. Both the cucumber soup part and the melon soup part (imagine two semicircles of different shades of green in the bowl) were cool and flavored w/ pepper.

We both ordered the mixed greens w/ mussels and bananas. What at treat. Simple and tasty - frankly, I think the banana slices made the dish. Finally we both shared a wonderful custardy date dessert that had a nice flaky bottom.

So fed, we walked up 18th and found the Cafe Andalus (Andalus Cafe??) where we were treated to wonderful, thick and sweet Turkish coffee. Enough for each of us to have two demitasses of the stuff. Kept us flying for hours.

At the coffee place, we were given a recommendation for Khartoum; I've passed it for years but have never been. Can anyone comments?
