Got shut out of Urban Solace last night, so trotted down to Waypoint for the elsewhere-touted Cassoulet.
Started with Fried Green Tomatoes, then on to their Little Gem salad- both quite good.
The Cassoulet has all the traditional ingredients, but has a more contemporary feel. A little on the "watery" side, but I don't mean that pejoratively. It was just not overbaked into a gooey mass. Flavors excllent, with a particularly good sear on the pork belly, an ingredient on which I'm not always keen. Very flavorful sausage. Duck confit was really just a duck drumstick, and I when considering the duck drumstick, I thought the pork belly was pretty good.
Accompanied by a pint of Allagash Saison, which may qualify as a fetish beer. But since I didn't get overly excited about it, I didn't strut about its peralge, nor did I wear a beanie nor ride my fixie to the place, I didn't slide into Hipster.
Overall, we enjoyed our meals.
