A decade ago Wass Diss Here Sauce was available in the Baltimore area. It was a wonderful barbecue sauce that came in three heats: regular, hot, and "sizzlin". It had a spicy, smoky homemade flavor, and was good on meat, macaroni and cheese (our daughter grew up on it) peas, chicken, cheese sandwiches -- everything but ice cream. Then it started to disappear from the stores. The last sighting, amazingly, was at BWI at their Taste of Maryland store. But no longer, alas.
It was made by Frederick Douglass, a descendant of the famous liberator; a former city planner and former WEAA announcer, and a re-enactor of the original Frederick Douglass. So far I have not been able to track down either the sauce or Fred, using the internet and the phone book.
can anyone give me any leads? Anyone else remember this sauce?
