We had yesterday another great dinner at Le Dome.
Graciously spaced 3 hour 7 course tasting.
Interesting yellow beets w/ micro salad ("micro", funny) amuse.
Fois gras w/ caramelized yams in a lemony honeyish reduction, heavenly. BTW, interesting match to our 1999 Sauzet Montrachet.
Scallops. Did I say it in plural? Ney, it was just one. But very tasty & buttery.
The John Dory proved up to speed to match a 1961 Mont Redon Chateauneuf du Pape (yes, 1961, the greatest southern Rhone year ever) nicknamed by the table "The Old Grand Dame from Sunset Blvd", in honor of location.
Great medium rare small slices of kobe matched a muscular 1999 Rousseau Chambertin.
At this point, we were in trouble. Still considerable volumes of Mont Redon AND Chambertin to go, next down the line was a sorbet. The kitchen graciously sent a delicious duck to bridge the gap.
Great cantelope sorbet.
$65 a head.
The greatest Sunset Blvd. tinseltownish patio location.
Impossible to beat. Or to quote a famous citation (actually, it's mine): "It can be different. But better? No way!"
