Visitor Taking Out Two 30-Year-Olds for Dinner

I'll be in New York over the weekend, as will my daugher and her boyfriend. Thanks to suggestions on this board, I'm going to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Now, I'm looking for a restaurant to take my daughter and her boyfriend out to on Sat. night. I'm staying near Grand Central; they will be more toward the Upper East side. I'm hoping to find a place convenient to both of our areas (short cab ride or walk). As far as food -- seafood/sushi would be the best choice, priced at about $10-20 person (the boyfriend is treating; I don't want to overwhelm him). They would also like Spanish or Thai, I think. I would like to find a restaurant that's fun for them (sort of hip/young), but not too noisy. I know there are tons of suggestions on this board, but I could use a little help narrowing down some ideas.
