Visiting San Diego with no car

Mike | May 21, 2004 01:12 PM

I'm headed to San Diego in a couple of weeks for a conference. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'm going to have much time to enjoy it since I arrive late and leave early. Ah well...

Anyway, I wonder if you all have any restaurant recommendations since that looks like my only chance for recreation. I'm going to have a couple of breakfasts and lunches, one late dinner (say 10pm or so) by myself and one normal one; the third night will be rubber chicken (or maybe rubber chicken enchiladas), I'm afraid. I'm staying downtown (the Mariott on West Harbor Drive near Marina Park, right on the water) and I won't have a car so that's a bit limiting. Left to their own devices, the people I hang out with at these conferences will go to Medieval Times (don't laugh, they've really done it) but all it takes is one person with a specific target in mind to direct a whole herd, as long as it's not too far to walk. For breakfast or lunch by myself, I'm happy to walk a couple of miles if the food is great.

Finally, does anyone have a suggestion for take out for the plane on the way home. I'm on an early morning flight so, unless it's at the airport, I'd presumably have to get it the night before. Something brunchy or lunchish would be preferred unless there's a fabulous take-out breakfast just calling my name.

Thanks in advance,

Mike
