Vanipha Lanna review

This is a thai-laotian place on St. Clair. Went with six people for a laid-back birthday celebration. The ambiance was okay: a fountain in the corner, lots of orchid plants but also a little haphazard with knick-knacks placed around the walls. The service was acceptable but not great. No offer of drinks before taking our orders, no help with ordering.

The food was excellent. Definitely the best thai food I have had in the city. Some highlights were the duck-lychee red curry, the Laotian festive minced chicken, and the chili sauced tiger shrimp. All the dishes and appetizers were nicely presented. My only complaint is that the sauces for the appetizers were too small and the so were the salad rolls. The vegetarian Pad-Thai was also very good, containing a wide selection of fresh veggies.

If you want a more fancy restaurant, Golden Thai is better. But for the food, this is my new favourite.
