Tonight I had the best goulash in this city at the Crossroads Deli. So intense and flavorful. Served with sauteed spatzle that had a real crunch. Along with that, some very intense red cabbage.
They also promoted a nice Shiraz on sale. $4.50 for the first glass; $2.50 for the second glass.
I went there to try their matzoh ball soup and to meet a friend. I did not expect to find the ultimate goulash.
I feel joyful tonight because this meal was equal to the many fine goulash meals I've had in Central Europe.
I've tried goulash at Zaroffs, Kramerczeks, New Prague Hotel, all the German restaurants (even that one in Hudson). None of them came close to what I had tonight.
