On the last burger day at Rosemunde, one of the people behind the counter, Christian, said that he would be continuing burger Tuesdays accross the street at Mad Dog in the Fog. We tried it today, and were very pleased with the results.
Christian had set up in a back patio, "Beer Garden" with a grill and 4 or 5 picnic tables. When we arrived shortly after the 11:30am opening time he was in the patio weighing out and forming burgers, and told us to come back in about 15 minutes. He informed us that he is buying the same meat, buying the buns at Bay Bread on Pine, and still holding the price at $4.00. He is currently doing the burgers on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:45 to about 6:00. As the light gets better in the evening and if business is good, he may start staying open later.
The burgers were every bit as good as previously served at Rosemunde's. In fact, I thought they were better, since the closed grill he uses gives them a bit of a smoky flavor. He is a one man show, taking orders, collecting money, and making the burgers. The one difference is that you add the lettuce tomatoes, onions and condiments yourself. I actually prefer that. He is also making his own pickles. If it gets as busy as Rosemunde's, he may get a bit stressed.
The ambience is more roomy and comfortable with the picnic tables or as we did you can go inside and have a beer and watch the ball game on TV.
The burgers come with choice of cheddar, blue, or a mixture of jack and colby cheeses. He is also making a turkey burger.
