Thursday was an eating bust due to too many mixups but just to say we had toast and coffee at Merci, where the coffee was good and dinner at Bistrot de L'Oulette on Rue Tournelles. Restaurant was full, even turning away folks. A 26 euro first and main dish or a little more with dessert we each had a starter: potImarron soup (comforting), a verrine of feta and confit of eggplant flavored with cumin ( deelish) and one plate of pate (okay). Mains were a bit of a dry duck confit with the most wonderful of sides!potatoes cooked to creamy perfection. Two orders of cassoulet, just what the mister wanted! Not my favorite though my daughter raved that the sausages were great and my husband joined the clean plate club. Neighborhood feeling, warm staff. Friday brought blue skies and a trip to the catacombs. Enough sight seeing, on to Pierre Herme, where the staff was great. No bostock, so we had a croissant, one plain one with chocolate, a cannelle, ispahan, Plus two others whose names I can't remember. Needless to say it was love at first site! On to Regis Huiterie for oysters, shrimp and Sancere. OMG. Oysters were as remembered, perfect. And the shrimp Devine. The little restaurant was filled with mostly Americans and a Spanish couple who make it their first stop of a trip. 81.50 e. Dinner was an eight o'clock reservation at 'Les Fines Gueles on Rue la Averilliere. When we arrive we were shown upstairs to a table with a view of the street and an empty room. Within 5 minutes it was filled with lots of young people and a few older folks so that we werent alone. Starters were an escargot ravioli which we didn't like for it's everything and a veal carpaccio which melted in your mouth. The other tables had charcroute and/or the burrrata which we would do next time. Mains were the steak tartare with salad and potatoes (19e), duck breast with mushrooms (24e), and a Fish, I don't remember which, on a bed of fresh mixed vegetable. Each dish was delicious, especially the steak tartare, the duck, and fish. Yes, it was good. Our three plates played round robin being passed between us. Hey, were family. Drinks were a gin and tonic for the mister and then a bottle of foo ray. Bill was 141 euro.
