We had a great time eating and walking in SF and miss the city very much. We tried the following places:
Maykadeh- great persian restaurant. Loved the sultani and the nice warm bread. We have lot's of persian restaurants in S.CA ,but non of them come even close to maykadeh.
Tartine bakery- Loved the morning bun and pain au jambon. The pain au chocolate had the biggest piece of chocolate and we also enjoyed the cougere(cheese and pepper) and the lemon tea cake. It was amazing to see the big line out the door on a weekday.
Bi-Rite ice cream- I really loved the salted caramel and the toffee coffee and even asked the ladies if they would ship. Too bad for me they don't :(
Perbacco- I had a spicy pomegranate cocktail and my husband had the pearlini. I liked his better. We enjoyed the bread and had the very fresh raw tuna and the very tasty fritto misto. I really loved the FM. Then we had the pappardelle with short rib and chanterelles and the pork shoulder with polenta. The pasta was tasty,but the portion was on the small side. The pork was pretty good,but the polenta was bland. Overall a nice experience.
Boulettes larder-We had breakfast here and every thing was fresh and tasty. I felt $5.50 for a sm glass of oj was a little high and we enjoyd the french press coffee and scrambled eggs with italian white truffle.
Cocoa bella- We picked some chocolates from this place and they were all good and less expensive than michael recchiuti.
Aziza- we really loved this place, so cozy and romantic. I had the very tasty cilantro cocktail and my husband had a glass of syrah. We enjoyd the arugula salad and really loved the mediterranean spreads. I want the recipe for the spreads! great crisp pita too. We then had the couscous aziza and shrimp tagine. Even though I am not a lamb lover,I enjoyed the lamb sausage and the shrimp and chicken. The tagine was really good,even the veggies were amazing. You guys are lucky to have Aziza.
The ferry market- I bought the whole market!! I brought a duffle bag just for acme bread! I bought seven different kind of bread and enjoyed them all. At recchiuti we really enjoyed the fleur de sel caramel and the very tasty brownie. The pates de fruits and burnt caramel almond were good also. We still have to eat the chocolate bar and the burnt caramel sauce. We picked a great bottle of black olive oil and tried ciao bella
Kokkari- Our last lunch. We really loved the gigantes and the fried smelt. That would have been enough for us,but we also ordered lamb souvlaki and moussaka. The lamb souvlaki was OK and I didn't care for the puffy pita. The moussaka tasted kind of like dessert and different from the ones we had before,but I enjoyed it. My husband was not crazy about it. Overall next time we will stick to the appetizers.
