just back after 2weeks..ahh, the bliss of new orleans. crazy weather this year, good fest, outstanding music in the clubs and oh..the food! just a hint, it'd take me a week to write up in detail...
acme a couple of times, always enjoyable, especially in the poets corner...great sters, soso crawfish
port of call..feels like home to me, love the burgers, baked potato w mushrooms, butter and bacon..and a windjammer or 2.
donnas..burger, ribs, and shannon powell band with jon clearys bass and guitarist, henry butler and trombone shorty..ever been to heaven?
cafe degas..nice on a rainy sunday night...lamb, good wine..nice hood place
feelings..last customers on a sunday night and it couldn't have been better..the whole room to ourselves, nice pinot, tournedos with bleu, a fish special, nice people, good service.
brightsens, late 10pm, seafood platter..outstanding, ..duck...veal..all so good.
uggies twice..bleu oysters, soft shell, bbq shrimp and a mess of apps...they fry like no one else in the city...nothing greazzy, just crisp and right..dressed rice with pork and beef, parmesan oystrs fried, artichoke bottoms stuffed, i could go on and on..all excellent..look for the cookbook in the fall
casamentos twice..my favorite place, for the atmosphere, oyster loaf, cj and linda..a true gem
mothers..first time in 15 years and probably the last..ferdi special, just didn't do it for me and the rooms no fun either
rock n bowl..bowl of gumbo at 1 am can't be beat..one of the best places to see live music.
dba..great guiness and music, no cover..cyril and lindell, great shows
fest food...best bargain in town and truly great stuff...cochon, crawfish, artichoke, bbq chicken, fried chicken, ribs, crawfish sack combo, boudin, shrimp creole...on and on and on
cooter browns for lunch..great lunch dishes, fun place
santa fe..not too shabby when you're in the mood for some nola mex food...very reasonably priced..huge plates
i might have missed a few there...

oh and gf and i got engaged at the circle bar, first sunday, and carl leblanc was sweet enough to play a fave by stevie wonder..."don't you worry bout a thing"
gonna have to get him to play our wedding in nola in the fall!
i'm not even home 24 hours and i miss it already...
