Highlights of a great eclectic Miami viisit .
11th Street Diner: Retro Diner on Miami beach with great Angus burgers etc. etc. etc.
Michaels Genuine Food and Drink: Hip, hot spot in Design District: Amazing whole roasted chicken,
Great Seviche, Fresh oysters, Remarkable BLT Salad, Very good deconstructed Meyer lemon pie in a jar (albeit overpriced at $11).
Garcias: Cuban down home fish place on the Miami River and I mean ON the river. Terrific fresh fish and delicious Cuban sides. Great river and people watching. Terrible parking.
Palacio de los jugos: Red Road and Flagler. Cuban Fruit and juice palace with home style Cuban cooking. We were the only Gringos and it was packed on a rainy afternoon. Don't miss the half gallons of fresh fruit juice like uanamana or whole coconut with a straw, fried fish, paella, Very inexpensive.
Villa Habana: One my my favorite old standbys on Coral Way for Great cheap Cuban food like Ropa Vieja with Excellent black beans, Plantanos Madurasand Tres Leches. Forget Versailles except for coffee and postres this is the place.
Sakura: One of the best sushi spots in Miami at Red and Bird Road, an institution. We had to wait for 40 minutes at 9:30 PM for a table.Well worth the wait. Fantastic fresh fish, delicious Wakame salad, tempura and shrimp dumplings. Way cheaper than most Miami sushi.
John Martins: Miracle Mile Irish pub with outstanding pub fare, Beef stew with stout, Corned beef and cabbage, White tablecloth room or bar room with music. Solid affordable fare.
