Treasure Coast restaurant reports

Just thought I'd mention some good places to eat that I haven't seen discussed in awhile or at all. Sometimes there is a bit of moaning about the lack of options here but there are actually some very tasty offerings.

For reasonably priced and very good Italian, there is Mario's on US1 in Stuart and Pasta Fazul's on Jensen Beach Blvd. in Jensen Beach. My husband and I just ate at the latter and were surprised at how delicious everything was, as the atmosphere is sort of cafeteria like- tables very close together. We had a lobster polenta cake for appetizer, cream of asparagus/artichoke soup, and mussels and veal dish for entrees. Everything was perfect.

For pricier more romantic Italian there's Casa Bella which is off of US1 on the southwest side of the Roosevelt bridge. It's in an old house and has a very charming atmosphere. Gusto's is another favorite of ours- it's in downtown Stuart and is the only Italian place in town where I've seen risotto on the menu.

In Ft. Pierce on US1 across the street from the Publix plaza there's a Korean restaurant. My mom and I ate there recently- we shared a squid dish that came with all sorts of vegetables in little dishes. I showed how little I know about Korean dining when I asked for some plates. Apparently, the food is just eaten off the serving dishes, communal style. It was a tasty and light lunch.

In Port St. Lucie off US1 there's a Vietnamese restaurant called Double Dragon. Lots of great rice noodle dishes, stir fry, and the pho is pretty good.

Cafe Madeline (spelling?) is still doing good breakfasts in Palm City, despite some concern on this board some months back about its possible demise. And they finally got an extra highchair so that we can bring our kids for Sunday breakfast!

I hope this helps those in the area or traveling through.
