We had brunch at Tavern in Brentwood over the weekend and were kind of stunned by the experience. Easy reservation via Open Table. Beautiful room. Pleasant service. And very, very good food. I know it sounds kind of silly but brunch out is so often second tier on every level and this was just outstanding.
Standouts: great, warm pastries; truly excellent multi-grain pancakes on the kid's menu, knock out "Bloody Queen" made with gin; a really great hash, equal or better to the one at Jar; all eggs cooked perfectly; great medium rare fish and succotash.
