Had to find an Italian place not far from Port Authority last night, and we settled on Trattoria Trecolori, on 45th St., based on lots of good reviews here on CH. We really enjoyed it. It was very crowded when we arrived at 7pm, but at 7:45, the theatre crowd left, and it was empty but for one other table. What a pleasure. Our waiter was helpful and fun and very knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone was pleased with the food - I had an appetizer portion of lobster ravioli with shrimp, and a very good veal dish with artichokes and lemon sauce.
I didn't care for the tiramisu so much, but thei ricotta cheesecake was very good. My boyfriend's veal chop was perfect. The pastas were al dente. The saltimbocca was delicious...and it is not expensive. I had a cinzano at the bar, and the wine list is just fine.
A great place to know about in that neighborhood.
Thanks very much.
