I just tried this new place in Silverlake today. Nice clean tables, modern atmosphere. It was evident the chef took great care not to overdo the food with too much salt, too much sugar (in the baked goods) or too much mayo.
The chicken salad was excellent with yellow currants and taragon in it. The cucumber soup also was excellent (though I added a tiny bit of salt, I prefer to do that myself!) with sliced grapes on top and a nice smattering of dill. I also enjoyed the roasted corn and kidney bean salad. The corn was actually roasted and off the cob. And the coconut cupcake with cream cheese icing which is tiny, the way desserts should be, was a nice end to things!
I tasted two other things that suffered from a lack of flavor, but nothing more: beets which were served lightly dressed, but not in anything that had much flavor and gazpacho, which really could have used some ummppph, as in jalapeno or vinegar or garlic or more veggie chunks (it was a bit of a puree).
I recommend it for a light healthy meal. They had four soups on offer and maybe ten salads in the front case. Plus baked goods and a sandwich list.
