Although I have been to Pike Place Market a number of times during previous trips. However, I cannot help to pay one of my favorite market on earth another overdue visit.
Still impressed by the wonderful array of seafood ( by North American standard ) displayed by fish mongers inside the market. Singapore hound and I started off our tour with a couple of Oyster Shooters at 'City Fish'. The oyster was large, fresh and tasty but I was hoping for a 'kick-up' version where they add a Quail egg and Ikura ( Salmon Roe ) to the mix. If Dallas can do it, why not Seattle???
Following this initial cholesterol burst, we headed over to Pike Place Chowder for more calories and cholesterol intake! Irrespective of whether the chowder was as good as before, we decided to settle for a cup of the award winning creation since there are more food to come! Well, that cup of thick, creamy and umami filled New England Clam Chowder was as good as before and did not disappoint.
Well, following some photo shoots of the usual places and famous landmarks, we decided to have a seafood lunch at near by 'Seatown'. We settled for a small selection of Washington State Oysters ( since we already overloaded ourselves with platters of the bi-valves the night before at Matt's ). A large plate of Bering Sea King Crab Legs and a large bowl of Mussels and Clams in the usual Italian preparation - Garlic, White Wine and Lemon broth. Everything was delicious as expected. However, the broth at Matt's was better.
For dessert, we decided on a cup of Jumba Juice - Enzyme Retention Triple Revitalizer ( aka Orange, Carrot and Banana Juice! ) to help out with our digestion!
To work off some calories, so glad we have to climb some steep hills to reach our parked car.
All in all, a wonderful and enjoyable half a day with a good friend, fine seafood and nice weather!!
