Toscana, Part Deux

A few weeks back, I ate at Toscana in Brentwood for the first time. I was underwhelmed,to be kind, however since it was a group dinner and I did not order, I gave it the benefit of doubt.

I returned this week with a friend, who is a VIP at Toscana. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. Clientele is your typical Westside, wealthy crowd.

The food is tres mediocre. And the prices really high ($45 for a steak, $18 for carpaccio, $8 tiramisu). Upon being seated, they present you with two bottles of water - sparkling or flat. I guess tap is out of the question. Probably not a bad business decision as the well heeled crowd wouldn't dare poison their bodies with common water.

I could detail the dishes, but frankly it's not worth it. Not a single dish stood out. If you've got to eat there, try the pizzas. They're OK.

This place reminded me of a tourist trap in Italy.
