Torta Express in Fresno-Report

My husband and I are now totally addicted to Torta Express in Fresno. After seeing the post by Polar Bear on this board, we went to try it out and we absolutely love it.

The restuarant is on the SW corner of Fresno and Shaw in the Mission Village(which also has a pretty good Asian food market as well).

Anyway, you walk in and place your order for either a regular sandwhich for $4.99 with a drink, or a gourmet sandwhich for $5.99 with a drink. I am totally hooked on the Marinera which is a toasted sandwhich with melted cheese, fried shrimp, roasted tomatoes, grilled onions and avocado. Delicious!! The sandwhich comes loaded with shrimp and all the toppings, no skimping here. This sandwhich beats the pants off of any chain restaurant and is cheaper, too.

My husband loves pork and was in heaven with the Cubana sandwhich. That's a toasted sandwhich with melted cheese, pulled pork with tomatoes, avocado, and topped with ham! He says it is a great sandwhich.

I was talking with Sebastian?, the guy who takes your order and brings it to you, and he said the restaurant opened July 2005 and is pretty busy especially at lunch. However, they need all the business they can get to stay open. I encourage all Fresno area hounds to check it out. I promise you will love it.

Thanks Polar Bear for the tip!
