Myself and two friends are going to Montreal for the first time in about six years so I pretty much have no idea of where to go. I've gone through a lot of past posts but would appreciate some specific opinions...
I'm looking for restaurants that are:
-More uniquely Montreal, as in 'notToronto'
-Pricing 20$ to 35$ for entrees kind of range
-Closer to Hotel Godin is preferable (Sherbrooke et Boul St. Laurent) although I remember the Metro system is excellent.
-European, North American, or fusion fare. Don't really want to be going for Asian cuisine there (I'm Chinese!)
-Going during Divers Cite... What's good in the gay village?
-In Toronto we really like: JK Wine Bar, Byzantium, Czehoski, Terroni, Lee
-Au Pied Du Cochon
-L'Express (Lunch or dinner?)
-Olive et Gourmando (Lunch)
-La Brunoise (A bit pricey but people on the board seem to think it's worth it...)
-Au Petit Extra (menu is not very clear on the site- is it all prix fixe?)
Thanks a bunch in advance for your help! I'll be certain to report back on my experiences..
P.S. Is Fondumentale still around? It was/is a very elegant and beautiful place that served fondue with excellent preparation. Fond memories as I spent a birthday many years ago there but it doesn't seem to be around anymore when I search the 'net.
