toronto mexican delicioso

Was told about a great Mexican place on an older chowhound message, so we tried it last weekend on Sunday nite, and the place was packed with locals. That's always a good sign!! El Sol, Mexican Art Cafe. 1448 Danforth, near Coxwell. Very plain, non-descript store front, but once inside, what a surprise!! Lots of folk art items all over the place (all for sale,
and very reasonable.) Menus is very country Mexican, not what Americans are used to, but wonderful!! We had a vegetarian platter for two, that included tostadas, sopes, enchiladas and something else I can't remember. Enough food for an army, and everything fresh and handmade. Sangria was great (and huge) and the margarita blender seemed to be in constant motion. The woman who owns the joint (and cooks everything herself) is a real charmer. We bought a folk art piece that we'll enjoy forever. Try it - you'll love it!!
