Tom Sarris's Orleans House - A mixed review

I attended a retirement lunch for about 100 people at Tom Sarris's in Rosslyn on Wednesday and the food and service were so-so. The salad bar really is the best part of this restaurant and is very good with fresh mixed lettuces, spinach and toppings such as beets, garbanzo beans, black eyed peas, mushrooms, feta cheese(!), banana peppers and good olive oil and red wine vinegar in addition to the usual, fattening creamy dressings. My crab cakes were mediocre, mostly filler, and came with french fries that, while admirably without grease and not too salty, didn't taste much of potato. My table companions ordered prime rib which looked overdone. This would be considered banquet food at best. And, I know the four servers had a lot on their plates (no pun intended!) in serving 100 people, but I had to ask three times for water. Anyway, I'm not sure I'd head there for a dinner on my own.
