My husband and I finally got to go to the Tin Mill last night to celebrate our anniversary. I can honestly say, it was one of the best meals we've had. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and our server in particular, was wonderful. It's a nice casual atmosphere, but the food was more like fine dining. Also, not really a family restaurant (which was nice since we wanted a dinner away from our kids!).
We started with duo frites (yukon gold and sweet potato), with a chipotle dipping sauce. The server warned us that the sweet potatoes were addictive and filling, so he said sharing it was a good choice, so as to not spoil our appetites. He was right. I never knew a french fry could be so heavenly. They were thin and crisp, and sauce was delicious. My husband had the special, which were 5 colossal shrimp on a bed of Asian noodles with soy and lime sauce, fresh vegetables and toasted black sesames. My husband said the shrimp were cooked to perfection, but the noodles were so great, they didn't even need a protein to go with them. He offered me a taste (noodles only....mean Mr. Askosrose!), and I had to agree. I had a beef tenderloin topped with a peppered boursin cheese served with a rosti. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. The combination of the creamy, decadent cheese with the perfectly cooked medium rare beef was delicious. I tried to make it last as long as I could, but alas, I had soon devoured it.
We had no intention of ordering dessert, but our server brought us the dessert menu and enticed us to at least share one. How could we resist? I wanted to share the creme brulee which was blueberry and orange scented, but my husband really wanted to try cheesecake, which was a mango coconut last night. It was outstanding. Creamy and tropical and I wish we hadn't shared!
So, all in all, it will be our place from here on in. I know Uxbridge is a little out of the way, but it is definitely worth the drive. Luckily, we live in Uxbridge, so it's only 10 minutes away from us! Oh, and make reservations early. I called on Tuesday for Saturday reservations, and they were only able to squeeze us in at 6:30. It was already full when we arrived and remained that way all night.
