First time in NYC - Eating near 48th st and 8th ave

I'll be in NYC from May 2 until May 9. I will be travelling with some relatives (we are a party of 8: 7 adults and a 4 year old child) and we will be staying at the Belvedere Hotel (48th st and 8th ave).

At the moment, I'm looking for places to eat and I have some doubts that I will divide into several posts to make it easier to answer:

Since we are a party of 8, will it be difficult to find places to eat without making reservations? (both at lunch and dinner time)

Where can we have breakfast near the Hotel? Since we have a kitchenette in the room do you think it would be a good idea (i.e. cheaper) to buy some food and just eat it at the hotel?

For dinner we are considering meals for up to 30/40 USD per person (without beverages). Where could we eat for that amount?

Thank you for your help!
