We got there at 8:00 sharp on Saturday, and already over half the tables were gone!
I ha a mocha and a mimosa to celebrate turning 33 this month (normally, drinking calories beyond a wine or beer and the rare milkshake is verboten!)
I ordered one of three different flavors of cake for my "Pancake Hootenanny".
Banana nana: Perfect banana pancake bliss.
A time to love: The pumpkin cake with Struesel, butterscotch chip and caramel, with more pumpkin and whipped cream on top
BLUESberry: Blueberry topped with blueberry sour cream goo.
They were HUGE and yummy and wonderful. I almost finished all three-with a little help from my husband. The thing was, my favorite wwas the "time to love" but it was so sweet, it finished me off. I don't think I could ever eat a full stack of those-TOOO sweet! but one was nice. If I had three of less sweet flavor, I could have easily defeated the cakes!
My husband had the some like it HOT scramble.
Great coffee, good cakes, good food! I wanted to try more flavors, but three was enough food! In fact, I don't know if I'll need pancakes again till this time next year, which is generally how we do it.
Then we went on an 8 mile hike up Nicholas Flats. The 1800 ft elevation gain in the first 2.5 miles definitely used pancake power (and sugar, I imagine)
What a great day.
When we were at the Griddle, I was touched to see the staff helping an infirm, blind homeless woman to the bathroom and probably to some free food. they treated her with such gentle respect, allowing her to keep her dignity. What a nice place!
