No Time to Cook!

Bill | Mar 19, 2002 07:48 AM

I'm booked solid this week, and we have house-guests in town to boot. So I've got to put a nice dinner for four on the table Wednesday and Thursday evening.

I know this is a situation you have all faced. I'm pretty good in the kitchen, but simply have no time to prepare. Where do fellow 'hounds stop on the way home from work in DC and Montgomergy County to pick up quality "take-out?"

It has to be good enough to serve company. It has to be a balanced meal. It may need a little addition such as bread, salad, dessert, or even need me to cook up some rice, pasta, etc., or even grill a steak, salmon, etc. to serve along side to round it out. It has to be able to stay warm or re-heat nicely after the four of us have had time to have a drink and catch up. And it has to be reasonably affordable.

I'm loath to shell out at Sutton or Eatzi's and bring home a cold, tasteless, waste of money. Are there any favorites here?

Ideas? Suggestions? I'm sure lots of people would be interested. I'm thinking quality pasta salads? Prepared lasagnas? Pasta Sauces? Marinaded meats? Good roasted chickens? Soup to go? Asian dishes?

Thanks, in advance.
